Proposed MWS Water Price Hike

Our water company MWS has proposed raising our water rates once again.

The effect of these price hikes would be:

Water Rate - $39.10/10,000 gallons would increase to $97.80/10,000 gallons.

Base Charge - $70.89/quarter would increase to $107.64/quarter.

​The Public Service Commission (PSC) Hearing for our MWS water case (Case #9729) will be held on Wednesday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Severn Library.

​The public comment hearing will be live streamed and members of the public may participate virtually. If you are interested in participating virtually, please send an email to psc.pulj@gmail.com by 12:00 Noon the day prior to the public hearing for which you would like to participate. Otherwise, you may watch the public hearings on the Public Utility Law Judge (“PULJ”) Division’s YouTube Channel.

Written comments may be submitted electronically or by first-class mail no later than Tuesday, August 9, 2024. Comments submitted electronically must be submitted through the Commission’s Public Comment Dropbox, which can be accessed through the Commission’s website at www.psc.state.md.us. Instructions for logging into the Public Comment Dropbox are located under the “Tools” section of the Commission’s website under the “Make a Public Comment” tab, which can be accessed via the following link: https://www.psc.state.md.us/makea-public-comment/. Commenters utilizing the Public Comment Dropbox are required to complete a one-time registration. If submitted by first-class mail, comments must be addressed to Jamie Bergin, Chief Clerk, Maryland Public Service Commission, William Donald Schaefer Tower, 6 St. Paul Street, 16th Floor, Baltimore, Maryland 21202. Only one copy is required. All comments must include a reference to Case No. 9729.
